Abstract: Evaluating the extent to which ICT related initiatives (through the particular case of the HP i-community project) have resulted in development through enhancing political freedoms, economic facilities, social opportunities, transparency guarantees and protective security for the people of Kuppam and determining how ICT can be better employed for sustainable development in the region. The work addresses the particular case of the HP I-community at Kuppam and analyses how ICT infrastructure and services in particular have facilitated the process of development in the region based on how they have helped enhance the five freedoms mentioned above. On the basis of the analysis, it recommends potent strategies for the future to further expedite the developmental process and in a more effective manner.
