dc.description.abstract1990s have witnessed a meteoric rise in the field of telecommunication industry. The speed of change has been leading to an era of uncertainty on one hand & opening up of a number of exciting opportunities on the other. The forces driving the change include globalization, privatization, de-regulation and convergence of technologies. The new technologies are enabling telecommunications to be widely and economically deployed both in urban & rural areas. New horizons in fixed and wireless access, mobile telephony, satellite communication, Internet, etc. are transforming the way we live and work. Business and consumers are reaping the benefits of falling prices and competition amongst service providers. To meet up to the consumer's expectation, telecom operators are adding or enhancing various content services by running software applications over the new or existing infrastructure. This project is an attempt to understand the following areas: 1. The unique requirements and paradigms of consultancy in the field of telecom with special impetus on MIEL. 2. The target areas of consultancy that can be explored by Motorola. 3. Exploring whether MIEL possess the requisite competency for consultancy, failing which an alternate approach will be looked into. 4. The structural functional paradigms of diversification of MIEL or any other group of Motorola as a consultancy. 5. The potential client base.en_US
