Abstract This case study starts with describing why and how frontAvenue a/s, a small Danish software development company, in 2004 established a subsidiary in Bangalore, India. It tells the experiences of the offshoring selection process, the challenging start-up, and the cooperation with the subsidiary during the last 2 years, and which challenges the future will bring. It gives insights into why the performance of the offshoring activity not yet has fulfilled the planned visions. Later the case study tries from a theoretical view to answer why frontAvenue choose to establish a subsidiary and not a different ownership model.
