Abstract: Motivation Academic 􀁹 To do a live project with manufacturing industry 􀁹 Opportunity to scan the operations of a firm and create a framework that would help us identify key problems facing the firm 􀁹 SME seemed a suitable option as studying the operation of a big firm might have proved to be too complicated a task in the given time frame Personal 􀁹 To get insights into the small businesses of India, something that we do not get to do as part of our courses 􀁹 To evaluate SME as a future career choice Objectives 􀁹 To develop a framework which could help in analyzing operations of a SME 􀁹 Simple framework that is not very data intensive as collecting data and analyzing it is a very time consuming exercise for SME 􀁹 Validate framework by applying it to multiple firms 􀁹 In the process of creating and validating the framework also identify problems being faced by the firms and if possible suggest solutions 􀁹 To apply the framework on multiple SME and relate them to find any key problems being faced by SMEs
