Abstract: 1. Abstract As the Indian economy celebrates its rising GDP, the Entertainment & Media industry has celebrated along and grown fast with a compounded annual growth rate of 14.2 percent over the past 5 years. It is projected that the industry will grow with a CAGR of 18% to a size of Rs.1 trillion by 2011. A major contributor to the growth of the industry is one of its oldest segments: the print media. India is one of the few markets where the print media has been growing despite the entrance of newer segments like internet, digital publishing etc. In this report we have studied the print media sector in detail and tried to understand it from various points of view like regulatory, operational, manpower and the content. There has been immense interest evinced by the foreign investors in this sector in the past few years. We have analyzed the opportunity areas for foreign investment which will help in the overall development of the sector and ways in which the foreign investors be able to gain in the Indian markets. As the information in public domain regarding smaller and medium players in the print media is quite limited, we have relied on experiences of primary sources, internet and drawn reasonable assumptions from the bigger players.
