E Our objective is to study a school as a service provider and hence evaluate and compare the parameters that are used to adjudge the quality of the service provided by the organization to meet the needs of primary education in India. Our aim would be to analyze them and suggest measures to metamorphose the Indian Primary Education system in the rural areas, clearly defining the constraints which plague it. EDUCATION SYSTEM India now has the world’s second largest education system after China with 130 million children aged 6-10 attending primary school. The traditional Hindu education was an elitist system imparting education only to particular sections of the society. After the independence, ‘education for all’ was advocated by the policy makers. The vision of education for India is thus contained in article 45 of its constitution: “Free and compulsory education for all children until they complete the age of 14” Due to the large inequalities in terms of social and economic conditions the education system still has not achieved the required results even after 60 years of independence. Moreover the literacy is concentrated in pockets across the nation and the urban and rural divide is very much palpable. One of the major reasons for this slow growth is the ignorance of people and reluctance to adopt education. However, the awareness for education is on the rise and the literacy rates are showing more positive results. Education comes under the Ministry of Human Resource and Development under the Government of India. Education is joint responsibility of the centre and the state and comes under the ‘Concurrent List’. Under the Ministry of HRD, primary education falls under the Department of School Education and Literacy.en_US
