Abstract: The project reviews a variety of academic literature to better understand the following 1. Growth challenges facing new ventures2. Understand the concept of disruptive innovation and how such innovations restructure existing industry structures3. Identify growth challenges faced by companies trying to bring disruptive change in their industries Based on the learnings from academic literature, the project identifies the following as key factors governing growth of new ventures attempting disruptive innovations 1. People challenges2. Entrepreneur s abilities3. Financial resources4. Business network5. Governance structure6. Ability of the innovation to target non-consumers7. Segmenting markets by the way customers are doing a job8. Balancing proprietary nature versus industry standardization9. Ability to change the basis of competition10. Adaptability of Resources, Processes , Value - for new venture as well as thepartners11. Create viable strategies while maintaining focus on profitability12. Liability of newness Amagi is democratizing advertising on TV by enabling local brands in a city to advertise on national TV at a fraction of the cost of a national ad spot. Amagi has a proprietary technology that enables different ads to be played in different cities in the same ad spot. The project takes a deep dive into the story of Amagi as a case in point of a company with a disruptive innovation. The project maps Amagi s growth story in light of the growth challenges identified above. The project finds that Amagi has indeed identified all the challenges quoted above and dealt with them effectively.
