dc.description.abstractThis project aims to identify a business opportunity in the education sector in the Indian market. With the mushrooming of pre-schools, schools and colleges and a shift in the Indian demographics, the Education sector is passing through a phase which provides both challenges as well as opportunities. Currently, the Indian education sector is primarily governed by unorganized players and hence is fragmented. But with high growth expectations as well as having favor amongst private equity players, the sector has attracted considerable interest of the private sector players. This project aims to understand the market and the players in it and understand the need for an information technology opportunity based on the current market workings as well as the trends that are appearing in the sector. Moreover, there will be an attempt to identify the pain points in the current market which have been solicited from interviews with individuals and try to make the solution compatible with it. Strategic assessment of the industry using Porter s 5 forces model will also be done. The project further goes into the details of the market offering for the identified target segments, price the services for each of the segment based on secondary and primary research and come up with a valid business proposition. Additionally, competitor analysis for the solution will be performed and the value proposition and points of parity and difference will be identified and elucidated. Finally, using projections, the financial health of the business will be forecasted with valid assumptions. The key success factor for the successful completion of the project is envisioned to be an in-depth analysis and assessment of the business idea that is identified and crystallized as well as clarity of the implementation of the plan. The mission statement of the organization will be To enable small and medium scale education institutions to leverage technology to provide a better and cost effective learning experience.
