dc.description.abstractProject Objective: The objective of this project is to study the Reengineering of the Banking Software Product Finacle from Applet based application to Service Oriented Multi-Tier Web Application from a software engineering perspective and to understand its business implication. Structure of the Report: The project report is broadly classified into 5 major sections: The 'Objectives of Transformation' section describes the reason for undertaking the reengineering exercise. The 'Software Engineering aspects of Transformation' section details the software engineering principles applied to this large scale reengineering effort. It focuses on life cycle model, estimation technique, risk management, software reuse and software testing methods employed during the transformation. The 'Software Reengineering Process Model' section details the application of the reengineering model during transformation of 'Finacle'.The 'Business Implications' section looks at the impact of reengineering on business such as market acceptance, business benefits etc., (including customizability and customization cost).impact on implementation cost, The 'Lessons Learnt' section describes the positive aspects of the reengineering effort and possible improvements. Methodology: The methodology adopted is interviews with Senior Management, Middle Management and Developers of Finacle Business Unit. Also, it involved study of technical articles and best practices related to Software Re-engineering.
