Title: Democracy hacked
Authors: Rani, Puja; Jain, Sujoy
Abstract: A decade ago, people all over the world thought of technology as an answer to everything. The
digital revolution, as promised by Silicon Valley, was meant to topple dictators, and help
democracy flourish. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder, and CEO of Facebook called the internet
a “force of peace in the world” in 2015, with the belief that Facebook was creating a “global
community” with a common understanding of issues confronting humankind
. The tables have
turned quite a lot since then, to say the least, which was first noticed by countries all over the
world after the 2016 US Presidential elections. Since then, we have had numerous instances
that have opened the eyes of the world to the fact that social media is a lot more than just the
“force of peace” that we all envisioned it to be. This other side of the coin was something that
the world was not prepared to deal with. Even the CEOs of the most tech savvy companies did
not anticipate something like this, as clear from the statement of Eric Schmidt, the Executive

Title: Business and human rights in the GIG economy
Authors: Tripathy, Subhra; Kandalam, Sai Madhuri
Abstract: Human rights responsibilities of corporates / business arise from the fact that corporate
entities, in the course of their business, inevitably impact human rights – whether it is
negatively or positively. In business as usual, the negative impacts or human rights violations
often go unregulated. Thus, there was a need to create an international governance
framework to explicitly address the obligations of national governments in relation to
business and the specific human rights responsibilities of companies.
The United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGP) represents the
operationalization of an international framework to ensure protection of human rights in a
business environment. The UNGP enshrines the 3-pillar framework of 'Protect, Respect,
Remedy' – namely that states must protect; companies must respect; and those who are
harmed must have redress.2020-01-01T00:00:00ZDigital platform: Software product development perspective

Title: Digital platform: Software product development perspective
Authors: Kolhe, Tejas; Ruj, Sudeep
Abstract: Digital platforms are transforming almost every industry today and slowly becoming mainstream business
models. Digital platforms dominate various markets through disruption to create a huge business scale,
and they deliver compelling customer experiences to all sides of the platforms. They also offer new forms
of value creation and innovation. As software applications are the base platforms in these systems,
software product managers play a crucial role in defining product strategies and the deployment of
innovative solutions through product features. In 2019, over 18% of all start-ups in India were leveraging
deep technology in their digital platforms (~over 1,600 companies). This number constituted only 8% of
start-ups incepted in 2014. Share of digital platforms in start-up ecosystem & their dependence on
deep technologies is increasing, so their study from software product development perspective will lead
to valuable insights.
We have studied how various digital platforms are built over the product's life through this
project. We have also explored the latest product strategies implemented by software
development teams in the field of digital platforms to lead the market in respective industry
segments.2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
