Authors: Majmudar, Utkarsh; Prabhu, Ganesh N
Abstract: The recent boom in the new economy of internet based commerce has created a large number of firms with a variety of business models that aim to leverage the power of the internet to further their business goals. In this paper we attempt to provide a conceptual framework for understanding e-commerce business models on a number of important dimensions - nature of consumer activity, nature of e-commerce activity, target customers, targeting strategy, revenue generating modes, procfactfcerwce delivery modes, payment collection modes, operating modes, market places, advantage mechanisms and domination characteristics. We also examine means of improving value proposition and net-friendliness for e-commerce activities and identify areas where e-commerce models have not been explored or fully exploited so far. Since the range of economic activities on the internet is vast and growing, newer models and opportunities are likely to emerge through improvements in internet technologies as well as innovations in their application to business contexts. Hence any conceptual framework on e-commerce business models, including our own, can never be comprehensive.2000-01-01T00:00:00ZFactors influencing choice of business strategies by government research laboratories under pressure to increase external earnings: an exploratory studyKrishnan, Rishikesha Thttps://repository.iimb.ac.in/handle/123456789/80712020-05-11T10:14:10Z2000-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: Factors influencing choice of business strategies by government research laboratories under pressure to increase external earnings: an exploratory study
Authors: Krishnan, Rishikesha T
Abstract: Concerned by the seeming lack of accountability of government research laboratories, governments the world over have adopted fiscal control measures to make them more business-like and responsive to user needs. These have typically consisted of expecting them to generate a portion of their revenues from actual users of their services. In this study we examined the strategies adopted by five government research laboratories in India in response to a policy directive that they should generate at least one third of their budget from external sources, particularly industry. The performance of these laboratories, functioning under the aegis of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, was studied over an eight-year period after the policy was proposed. All the laboratories studied worked in areas where they could develop product or process technologies for use by industry.2000-01-01T00:00:00ZOrganizational demography: a reviewOjha, Abhoy Khttps://repository.iimb.ac.in/handle/123456789/80692020-11-07T10:26:32Z2000-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: Organizational demography: a review
Authors: Ojha, Abhoy K
Abstract: Research has established the importance of including demographic considerations in organizational analysis to provide a more comprehensive explanation of organizational phenomena. However, there are a wide variety of conceptual and empirical perspectives in the field of organizational demography. Each perspective has a different focus and conceptual underpinnings. In this paper, we develop a framework to categorize the current literature into cohesive theoretical perspectives. In addition to organizing the past and current work in the field, the framework draws attention to other possible approaches to demographic research in organizations.2000-01-01T00:00:00ZManagement responses to growthNaganna, NGanesh, Jaihttps://repository.iimb.ac.in/handle/123456789/80702020-11-07T10:26:32Z2000-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: Management responses to growth

Abstract: Growth is one of the primary objectives of an enterprise. Achieving growth is one thing and sustaining growth is another as also achieving sustainable growth is yet another thing. In this context, it is to be noted that growth is essentially a multidimensional concept as it can refer to many a factor such as : output, sales turnover, profits and its rate, product range and diversification, employment, capital, or it could also refer to the ratios like productivity, profitability and so on; or it could also be a combination of these elements since they are interrelated. In this paper, it is considered in a narrow sense, referring mainly to the physical output of an enterprise. This refers to the coal mining industry in A.P.2000-01-01T00:00:00Z
